2023 LinkedIn APAC Creative InDay: Doodle for Self Care
Fri Feb 24, 2023 12:30pm – 1:30pm (AEST)

Mindful Doodles
This self-care drawing activity can help you to explore your visual language and metaphors to develop resourcefulness, create possibilities and improve well-being.

What is self-care?
Self-care is taking the time to do activities that nurture you, taking proper care of yourself and treating yourself as kindly as you treat others.

Why drawing?
Remember the last time you were drawing or doodling? Were you smiling while you were doing it? Drawing is basically a pleasurable exercise and motivates us to focus on what we love doing or seeing.

Join Interactive Drawing Therapist Florence Ee and accomplished flautist Sophie Manoharan for a live music experience guiding a self-care drawing session. This workshop involves guided drawing inspired by specially chosen sounds of the flute to bring about a strong sense of self-awareness, self-connection and self-nurture, using music and drawing to motivate us to focus on what we love doing, hearing and seeing.

Guided drawing requires no artistic talent or drawing ability. Just come along and have some fun drawing and listening to a variety of calming tunes led by a musician-drawing therapist duo.

Do you want to incorporate more visual language in your counselling beyond a genogram? A staggering number of scientific, mathematical and business breakthroughs have come about via the act of doodling and diagramming on a piece of paper. There is so much intellectual and creative power to be unleashed from visual language.  It is time to make some connections between your clients’ visual language and their critical thinking, and using your clients’ visual metaphors with their problem solving.

This workshop introduces participants to a hands-on experience using your clients’ visual language to bring about self-awareness and self-connection. This will enhance clients’ resourcefulness through doodling, writing and diagramming to help them move towards positive change.
